Old Hartford Fair Grounds
Hartford Michigan
circa 1936

|
|
The photo of the old Hartford Fair Ground was given to me by my aunt,
Dorothy Miller. Most likely, the view was captured by Uncle Ray
Miller (HHS 1926), and very likely taken from a plane piloted by Tink
Leach (HHS 1927).
By the appearance of the cars, it would have been about 1936 during the
fair.
About 1968, the main buildings were demolished and the fair was relocated
east of Hartford on Red Arrow Highway and County Road 681. The race
track ceased to run horses, but was established as a dirt-clay track for the Hartford
Motor Speedway. The race track is now called Hartford Speedway Park.
Thanks to Larry Blyly (HHS 1946) for providing this beautiful photo from
his historic archives of Hartford - 2/2007.
